Chicken Run Recap

Sunday morning 24th May 2009 promised to be a rainy morning yet by 08.00 , departure time there was no rain in sight.

A hand full of Triumph riders were gathered to depart , oh yes and a sole BMW.

Hester , Wim , Eugene , Dawid , Jan , Ian , Keith , Patrick & myself (Mark Livings.)

2 Thruxtons , 3 Tigers , 1 Bonneville , 1 ST & a Rocket Touring , we met up with David (RS955i) Jacques (Speed Triple) & Leonard (ST)

RAT having been welcomed , a short prayer & away went some 100 motor cycles.

Via Stellenbosch , N2 , Sir Lowry’s pass – and the Rocket Touring can out-handle many of the “sport bikes”.

Off to Kleinmond – a too long stop because of the cops checking cars and bikes , and then a hammer run past Betty’s Bay. OB’s at Rooi Els and some scratching to Gordons Bay. Dam the Tigers are quick but the Thruxton was right there all the way. The ST had no problem with the straights or the turns.

At 198 km’s on EFI Thruxton was not even on reserve.

Rocket Touring reserve light came on at 275 km’s , not bad for into the wind for a few km’s.

Thanks to all those who made the morning good fun , the jokes around the coffee table and the total TRIUMPH friendliness towards all the other bikers.

Till the next run.

Be Triumph’ant
